Welcome to the latest edition of our school bulletin! I am excited to share the latest happenings, achievements, and upcoming events that make our school such a vibrant and engaging learning community. As we navigate through the school year, I hope this bulletin serves as a valuable source of information. Keeping you connected with the heartbeat of Buckeye Elementary is what makes us a “Small School, with a BIG Heart.” Thank you for your continued support as we work together to nurture and inspire all of the Bobcats.

Good afternoon Buckeye Families,

If I don’t get to tell you in person, I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Thank you for all the kind gifts and goodies. I'm the luckiest principal around. We’ll see everyone back at school on Monday, January 6th.

PTC UPDATES:

We have a new president of our PTC, Stephanie Wiltcher. Thank you, Stephanie, for taking the lead of this amazing group of volunteers. If you would like to be a part of our PTC, you are welcome to join us at any of our meetings. Our next PTC meeting will be on Tuesday, January 13th in the staff room at 3:30. Show your support to the school and join us! If you have questions or ideas for Stephanie and the PTC, you can reach via email at: ptcbuckeye@gmail.com

Dine Out: Save yourself the trouble of cooking and join us for our PTC Dine Out on Tuesday, January 14th at Lost Pinos in Cameron Park from 5-8. Mention you are here for Buckeye and a percentage of the money comes right back to the PTC!

Jog-a-Thon: Thank you to everyone who donated to our annual color run! Because of your generous donations and support, we were able to raise $13,989! Prizes earned for the color run will be distributed after the winter break. Don’t forget to congratulate your child on their hard work during the run!

PAWS ART CHALLENGE:

We have just a few students that have participated in our PAWS art challenge. If you want to give the kids a fun art activity over the winter break, this might be a good one. The art contest centers on our four school expectations: Problem Solve, Always Care, Work Hard, and Show Respect (PAWS). Students can pick one of these four expectations and make colorful drawing of what that means to them. It could reflect what this expectation looks like at school, at home, or in their community. Students should draw a colorful picture and include a sentence or two about the picture as well. Parents, you may assist with the writing if needed, but let the art be that of the kids.

We will select several examples from each grade level and publish them into books that will be in each classroom as well as our school’s library. I would love to have a nice full book of student’s art to share with each class. Thanks in advance for those that will participate. Go Bobcats!

ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE:

We selected 12 students today to win the perfect attendance challenge for December. Each student received a small bag of popcorn and a mystery gift card to either McDonalds, Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Chipotle, or Urban Yogurt. Since it was such a hit with the kids, we’re going to pick 12 more winners at the end of January. If your child misses 1 or fewer days, they’ll be entered into the raffle at the end of the month. Thank you for making learning a priority at Buckeye. Go Bobcats!

iReady Donut Challenge

We are continuing our raffle each Monday for kids that met their previous week’s iReady My Path goal. The My Path goals are 30-49 minutes a week plus two completed lessons in math. The iReady My Path is an important component of student learning as it’s customized to the level of each student based on their most recent assessments. The winners will get a yummy donut from Heavenly Donuts. Kids can access their iReady accounts and My Path at home as well. Thanks for working hard Bobcats!
