Good morning Buckeye families,

We had a full week at Buckeye. Students in grades 1st -5th have been working on their iReady Diagnostic Assessments in both math and language arts. These assessments are computer adaptive and adjust to the students’ level. The results of these assessments are used to gauge student growth both personally and towards grade level standards. The results of these assessments will be shared with you shortly and we use these tests as one of our data points to decide which students may need further support and/or enrichment in the classroom. Speaking of support, we are getting ready to start up our reading intervention next week which now call Bobcat Reading Boost or BRB. We will also be examining our assessment results to look at which students’ grades 2nd-5th would benefit from some support with math intervention. If your child is participating in either of these support programs, you will be notified via email next week.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the office.

SAFETY CONRERN:

The district office sent out a message involving safety concern with a person in a van approaching a student after school. I am attaching some talking points about safety that you can share with your child if you choose.

UPPER CROSSWALK:

At Buckeye we have several pick-up locations.  In our upper parking lot (by the stairs) students can only get in and out of the cars past the crosswalk. This way the people up there can supervise students that are entering the crosswalk and cars. We have kids running down the sidewalk and towards cars that entering the lot and we need to keep everyone safe. I know that not everyone agrees with this, but this is the procedure we have in place. If you prefer the front parking lot, it moves pretty quickly and the church lot always has spots open for parents to park. Thank you for partnering with us to keep kids safe.

PICTURE DAY:

Thursday, Aug. 28 is picture day. You don’t need to fill anything out ahead of time. We use a company called iClick and they will email you information on how to order pictures if you choose to.

RESOURCE CLOSET:

We are excited to share that Buckeye Elementary has partnered with ASPIREKids El Dorado to provide a Resource Closet on our campus—part of their HandsON! program that supports students with essential items they may need to thrive in school. This Resource Closet is available to all Buckeye students and their families

  • School Supplies (backpacks, notebooks, pens, etc.)

How It Works:
